140k original miles
4000 on engine rebuild with new clutch
A/c , Heater, Power Steering all work perfectly.
New Paint
So the old man I purchased this truck from did all this work on the truck and gave it to his grandson on his 16th birthday. They took it to a parking lot and that was when the child decided he wanted a automatic jeep and wasn’t interested in the s10 or the fact that it was a standard. After ole papaw had busted his ass making this thing ready. Any how I showed up yesterday to purchase the truck and he was pretty bent out of shape about letting it go.
I ended up telling Ron to come out to the drag strip with us this weekend and hang out with the guys and at 65-70 I’m sure this ole man is pumped for this weekend and so am I.
I paid $xxxx for the truck and then immediately drove it 4 hours back to Austin without a hick up.

Nice! I love a clean square body S10. That kid sounds terrible. I kind of did the same thing, though. My papaw and I worked hard fixing up my first car, a ‘92 Beretta. I got tired of it after a year. I chalk it up to the fact that all teenagers are assholes. I didn’t even like myself when I was a teenager.

Top picture is shrotly after it was bought, partially repainted, reupholstered, tuned up, and detailed. It was an older lady’s car she bought new. Had 71,425 miles on it in 2005. She was a heavy smoker, hence the detailing part.
My papaw and I worked one summer on it and got it looking the way it did in the last two photos here. I drove it for a year and got tired of its slowness (2.2 with 110 HP and a 3-speed transmission that was dying) and lack of options (no tilt wheel, no cruise, no power windows or locks, no rear defrost, no trunk release button, etc.). Only options it had were the center console, a cassette player (which I had replaced by a CD player and a booming stereo - so 2005), and A/C (which made it even slower).
I miss it.

I’ve got 2 aluminum 5.3 liters sitting in my shop right now. One of which may be gone this weekend with the Datassun. That should give me enough money to swap a 8.8 rear, TH350/400 , 5.3 ls swap and turbo the truck. I’m going to try to connect with sloppy mechanics from youtube. Hopefully he can make sure I don’t make any stupid mistakes.
